Who are we?

The International Guild of Knot Tyers, IGKT for short, is a craft group with an interest in every aspect of knots and knotting. This organization was founded in 1982 with the declared objective of  “the advancement of the study and practice of the art, craft and science of knotting, past and present.”

The Pacific Americas Branch, a chapter of the IGKT, was formed in Southern California, in January 1997 to bring a local focus for knotters in the Western U.S., Canada and Alaska. We are affiliated with the Los Angeles Maritime Museum in San Pedro, California and we keep in touch with a Branch newsletter called Knot News. Our membership has grown to some 60 plus members spread over many of the western states as well as some in the east. We even have a member from Australia!

If this sounds interesting to you, please feel free to contact us. We hope to hear from you soon.
